At-home Natural Day Spa

Finally, a post for us! I realized that after all this time talking about our children, caring for them and looking after their needs, it's time to focus on ourselves for a minute! Who's with me? I thought a good way to focus on ourselves is to suggest some easy, homemade health and beauty products so we can turn our bathroom into our very own all natural day spa. Aaaaah.....

Here are some ideas....
  • Bath soaks: For a soothing bath, add 20-25 drops of pure tea tree oil to the water. Baking soda can soften hard water and makes a relaxing bath time soak.
  • Dry skin exfoliating: After bathing and while still wet, give yourself a massage with dry salt. It removes dead skin particles and aids the circulation.
  • Eye Puffiness: Mix one teaspoon of salt in 1 pint of hot water and apply pads soaked in the solution on the puffy areas.
  • Cellulite: Because juniper promotes circulation and the dissolving of fat, it can be used to treat cellulite effectively. Mix 20 to 30 drops of juniper essential oil with 4 oz olive oil and use to massage areas where cellulite is an issue.
  • Hair buildup: After shampooing, rinse your hair with a mixture of 1/2 vinegar, 1/2 warm water to remove all the build up and brighten hair.
  • Facial scrub: Mix equal parts of salt and olive oil and gently massage the face and neck with long upward and inward strokes. Remove mixture after 5 minutes and wash face.
Before spending $20 on that facial scrub or hundreds on the newest product to reduce eye puffiness, consider hitting the grocery store for some ordinary, run-of-the-mill salt and olive oil. Try it!
