Vegetarian baby and child breakfast ideas

We've all heard it before - breakfast is the most important meal of the day - and its true! A healthy breakfast sets the tone for the entire day, allowing your child's body and mind to stay alert and active. Breakfast can also be the most rushed and stressful meal of the day to prepare when you are trying to get kids (and yourself!) out the door, lunches made, bags packed etc... The key to a healthy breakfast is to be prepared. Always have quick and easy breakfast options on hand for those extra busy mornings when everyone sleeps in, the baby needs to be changed 5 times, and the orange juice gets spilled all over the floor.

Quick and easy breakfast options:

Yoghurt
Fresh fruit
Muesli or oatmeal with ground almonds and dried fruit
Frozen muffins, pancakes, waffles - prepare in advance and freeze a bunch
Rice or wheat puffs with rice, nut or soy milk
Frozen cubes of quinoa porridge
Frozen cubes of fruit purees
Nut and seed butters with toasted bread, english muffins etc...
Scrambled eggs with toast

When you have more time:

Homemade waffles or pancakes
French toast (try making a vegan version with soy milk and pureed banana instead of egg)
Open faced omelettes with veggies and fresh herbs
Breakfast burritos
Fresh fruit salad

Breakfast can be the most difficult meal of the day, but if you prepare ahead of time, a lot of this stress can be relieved. Keep a well stocked pantry/freezer of quick healthy options and supplement with fresh fruit, yoghurt, eggs etc...
